ABOUT US
Introduction
In a slum, where People living in poverty stricken environments, widows and single mothers take the back seat. Poverty, underdevelopment, mass illiteracy and urban backwardness have deepened the plight of people living in slum areas. This has compelled NIMA Cares Foundation to initiate a programme aimed at providing them with future by alleviating the sufferings of the orphans and less-privileged. We currently operate in Ghana; with plans of expanding to Togo and Nigeria.
Background
Nima is a Muslim-dominated suburb, with poor living conditions coupled with various social problems as mentioned above. The area is also home to great Islamic scholars. There is no much motivation for education and school drop-outs have been an unfortunate part of the community.
To inculcate the habit of reading the Holy Qur’an in children, we created Taaju Al-Rahmah (Our first musabaqah) in 2014 as a pilot program at ICODEHS mosques.
Founded in 2014, Network for Intellectual Muslims Africa (NIMA) Cares was registered in 2015 in Accra – Ghana (West Africa), with the focus of organizing Qur’an competition for the less privileged across Ghana.
The orphanage was established in 2019 as a result of the less fortunate children towards our effort of improving their lives to become self-reliant. NIMA Cares Foundation works with the National Chief Imam Office-Ghana, Social Welfare Service.
